Coach Paul has over 5 years of coaching experience ranging from learn-to-swim through senior level swimmers. He is an ASCA Level 2 certified coach and is heavily involved in the governance side of the sport where he serves on both local and national swimming committees. Coach Paul became the first athlete to receive the Safe Sport National Impact Award for his work.
During his swimming days, Coach Paul swam for the Suburban Seahawks Club prior to swimming for Purdue University where he earned two Bachelors Degrees in Aerospace and Nuclear Engineering in addition to a Masters degree in Nuclear Engineering focusing on nuclear space propulsion. Coach Paul is passionate about his research, so when he is not coaching or working on swimming governance, he is continuing his research in computational thermal hydrualics while pursuing his PhD in Nuclear Engineering. In the rare free time that Paul does have, he enjoys going on adventures with friends and watching Netflix.
At FISH Aquatics, Coach Paul oversees the entire age group program but is the lead coach of both the Youth 2 and Junior 1 Groups. This allows him to work with both our entry level and our elite level age group swimmers. In the Youth 2 group, Coach Paul focuses on establishing a love for the sport of swimming by making it fun while instilling strong fundamentals. In the Junior 1 Group, Coach Paul embraces the philosophy of "technique under duress" where he steps up the training to prepare those athletes for state and zone level competitions all the while maintaining a focus on proper technique. Coach Paul works to prepare the Junior 1 athletes to successfully transition to the senior group.
