Because 33-43% of points scored at college championship meets come from relays coaches place a premium on sprinting. We use swimmers sprint freestyle times as a proxy to represent swimmers’ potential impact on relays.
Nope. In fact, adding best times (even slow ones) can only improve your score.
Base times the estimated NCAA Division I qualifying standards. This estimate is calculated on a trend line using the least squares method over past actual NCAA Qualifying times.
Because American college swimming is conducted in yards and clients prefer yard to meter times in the recruiting process, swimcloud.com maintains separate base times for short and long course meters. These base times are 1-1.5% faster than their SCY equivalents. These better represent a recruit's impact in college swimming. This also mitigates the difference between international and domestic recruits. (International freshmen are, on average, 18 months older than their American teammates)
