Vermont Releases Upcoming Schedule

The University of Vermont women's swimming & diving program unveiled its 2016-17 schedule on Thursday afternoon. The Catamounts will compete in eight scoring meets, including three at home, as well as the annual Boston University Invitational in November.

"I am pleased with the addition of UMBC to the schedule," said head coach Gerry Cournoyer, whose team will compete against all four other America East schools during the regular season. "It will be a huge benefit for our ladies to see the Retrievers before the conference meet."

Vermont opens the year with a non-scoring meet against St. Michael's and Norwich on October 2 at Forbush Natatorium. The regular season begins the following Saturday, October 8, when the Catamounts host Binghamton in America East action at 11 a.m. UVM also welcomes conference rival UNH to Forbush on October 15 at 12 p.m.

After a weekend off, Vermont travels to Siena on October 29 for a 2 p.m. meet, which will be followed by the first conference road contest against Maine on November 5 in Orono. Following a road meet against Bryant and NJIT on November 13, the Cats compete in the BU Invitational to close the first half on November 18-20 in Boston.

UVM begins 2017 by traveling south to face defending America East champion UMBC on January 7 for a 12 p.m. meet in Maryland. Vermont heads back to Boston for a matchup with Northeastern on January 14, then returns to Burlington for a meeting with Rhode Island on January 21.

The America East Championships return to Worcester Polytechnic Institute and are slated for February 8-12, 2017. For the fourth straight year, the women's swimming & diving team finished third overall at last year's America East Championships. Vermont was named the 2016 America East Coaching Staff of the Year for the first time since 2009.

Vermont will close out the year with the ECAC Championships on February 24-26, and the NCAA Championships are set for March 16-18 in Indianapolis.
