Opening up action at the 2015 MPSF Championships, the teams were in the pool to compete in a pair of relay events as the 200 Medley Relay and 800 Free Relay was contested on Wednesday, Feb. 18. The teams competed at East Los Angeles College where the four-day event will take place.

Just as they had done the year prior, the men just missed setting a new school best in the 200 Medley Relay as the team of Jared Vu, Cody Burkard, Trent Williams, and Taylor Moore posted a time of 1:30.30. The mark by the Tigers' relay team was just over a second off the all-time record of 1:29.22 set in 2013. In the 800 Free Relay, Curtis Klein, Kale Ai, Lee Ward, and Brandon Chandler posted a time of 6:37.85 to finish in fourth place.

For the women, the day kicked off with their own 200 Medley Relay race as Haley Preston, Cristina Mardones, Kenna Ramey, and Vaiva Gimbutyte took a fifth place finish with a time of 1:41.45. Preston and Mardones would be back in the pool just a few minutes later when the Tigers swam the 800 Free. Along side of the duo were Hayley Shillington and Margaux Verger Gourson who helped the relay team take a third place finish with a time of 7:21.02.

After finishing the opening day of action at the championships, the Tigers will be back in the pool in the morning of Thursday, Feb. 19 when qualifying take place for the 500 Free, 200 IM, 50 Free, and 200 Free Relay.
