NCAA Platform Champ Qualifies for Worlds

Indiana freshman Jessica Parratto and 2013 IU graduate Amy Cozad earned a spot at the 2015 FINA World Championships with a victory Saturday in the synchro platform competition at the USA Diving Synchro National Championships in Greensboro, North Carolina.
 
With a score of 612.30. Parratto and Cozad used the final two dives of the final to pull ahead of Mary-Beth Dunnichay and Delaney Schnell, who placed second with a tally of 599.88.
 
Sophomore Michael Hixon and 2014 graduate Darian Schmidt finished fourth in the 3-meter synchro competition with a score of 795.57.
 
Parratto will team up with Deidre Freeman tomorrow in the 3-meter synchro event with a spot at the World Championships on the line.
 
Parratto and Cozad join Hixon at the World Championships as he earned a spot on Team USA on the 1-meter at the December USA Diving National Championships. Indiana also has freshman Kennedy Goss (Canada) and 2014 graduate Cody Miller (USA) competing in swimming events at the World Championships, July 24-August 9 in Kazan, Russia.
 
At the FINA Diving Grand Prix Canada Cup, freshman James Connor teamed up with fellow Australian Grant Nel to place second in the 3-meter synchro competition with 402.72 points, less than two points out of first place. Connor placed fourth in semifinal A of the 3-meter springboard on Friday and will team up with Nel on Sunday for the synchro platform final.
