Bentley Sweeps Babson

Down by two points heading into the final event, the Bentley University Falcons captured the 200 yard free relay by 0.71 seconds to record a 121-118 win over Babson College in men’s college swimming action at the Babson pool Wednesday night.
                
Sophomores Sebastian Bury (Bellevue, Wash./Newport Senior HS) and Nick Toselli (Barrington, R.I./Barrington HS) combined with freshman Davis Wilson (Ransom Canyon, Texas/ Lubbock HS) and senior Steve Sylvia (Westerly, R.I./Westerly HS) for a winning time of 1:28.55, the team’s season-best.
                
Bentley’s dominance in the diving enabled the Falcons to have the opportunity to win the meet on the final event. Led by sophomore Colton Bridge (Tolland, Conn./Tolland HS), the Falcons outscored the Beavers 29-5 off the two boards. Bridge finished first in both, with scores of 265.05 from the one-meter and 258.70 from the three-meter.
                
Other winners for the Falcons were Bury in the 50 freestyle (22.41) and junior Josh Witty (Los Gatos, Calif./Los Gatos HS) in the 100 backstroke (56.07).
                
Bentley, 6-4, will complete the dual meet portion of its schedule Tuesday at Bridgewater State.



Senior Amanda Le (Chelmsford/Chelmsford HS) and sophomore All-America Nicola Mancini (Falmouth, Maine/Falmouth HS) continued their string of winning performances to lead the Bentley University Falcons to a 134-95 win over Babson College in women’s college swimming Wednesday night at the Babson pool.
                
Bentley captured 11 of 13 events, including both relays, to push its record to 8-2 on the season with one dual meet left, at Bridgewater State Tuesday evening.
                
Le was the first to touch in both the 200 yard individual medley (2:17.34) and the 100 butterfly (1:01.86), with the latter a season-best time. She also led off the 200 free relay team, with junior Danielle Hellstern (Southbury, Conn./Pomperaug HS), freshman Kaitlin McGahie (Boylston/Tahanto Reg. HS) and junior Nadine Edwards (Danbury, Conn./Danbury HS) following her into the pool.
                
Mancini, undefeated since the start of the season, posted winning scores of 284.94 in the one-meter diving and 280.30 in the three-meter.
                
In addition to Le’s effort in the 100 fly, Bentley received team season-best performances in three other events. Sophomore Kelly Culkin (Avon, Conn./Avon HS) turned in a 2:03.82 in the 200 free, McGahie posted a 55.26 in the 100 free and Edwards swam the 500 free in 5:28.78. All were meet-winning times as well.
                
Bentley’s list of winners also included senior Heather Exley (Oceanside, Calif./Vista HS), in the 100 breaststroke (1:11.30), and Amelia Suda (Monroe, Conn./Masuk HS), in the 1000 free (11:35.84). The Falcons opened the meet with Exley and sophomores Meg Pernsteiner (Highland Heights, Ohio/ Hawken School), Melissa Clauss (Oakland, N.J./Bergen County Academies) and Lindsey Goodwin (Staten Island, N.Y./Notre Dame Academy) taking the 200 medley relay in 1:57.25.
