California Polytechnic's women and the Navy Midshipmen topped the Division I rankings. Navy was, on average, the fastest of the six men's teams competeing while the Iowa women were the highest-ranked for their swims against cross-state rival Iowa State. The Cal Poly women led all teams in their rate of improvement over their season-best times while the Army men bettered their times at a rate that was higher than the rest of Division I.
The University of Bridgeport and CW Post/Long Island University squared off last week and those two teams topped the Division II rankings. The Bridgeport women swept both the improvement and performance metrics. On the men's side the teams shared the top spot despite Bridgeport easily topping CW Post. CW Post benefited from a small that showed good improvements over the weekend.
The Redlands College swept the top spot in Division III. At the FINIS Collegiate Invite, both men and women posted the nation's top times, while the men's team also enjoyed the highest rate of improvement over season-best times. UC-Santa Cruz is ranked second for both men and women. The Banana Slugs ranked second in women's performance and men's improvement.
The Avidasports Performance Index rates teams on two equally-weighted metrics - a team's rate of improvement over their season-best times and their overall ranking among other NCAA programs. The past weekend was the most significant of the 2010-11 collegiate season. Over 36,000 races were swum across slightly more than 100 collegiate meets. Of those swims, a remarkable 341 of 551 teams exceeded their season best times.

Avidasports, based in Harper Woods, Michigan, works to challenge athletes to achieve their personal best by providing coaches and athletes a competitive training edge by measuring and syncing audio and performance metrics in real time and post training analysis. Eight metrics are instantly measured on an entire team including stroke count, stroke tempo, length time, average distance per stroke, average speed, breakout time, kick count, and kick tempo. Using an ear bud, athletes can hear two of these metrics in their ear at every length and coaches can talk directly to their swimmers while they train. All of the information is stored for viewing by the coach and athlete on the internet after practice. For more information go to www.avidasports.com.
