The Badgers' new home, part of a $96 million project that resulted in the gleaming 170,000-square foot Nicholas Recreation Center, opened for competition in January of 2021.
The new facility replaces the original Southeast Recreational Facility, which served as the home to UW’s practices since its opening in 1982.
A centerpiece of the Nicholas Recreation Center is the Soderholm Family Aquatic Center. With seating for 1,200 spectators, the new aquatic center houses all of the Badgers’ practices and competitions under one roof. The new facility features a 50-meter pool, which is convertible to two 25-yard pools, as well as a 25-yard diving well below a full diving tower.
The Badgers have easy access to the new facility, with an enclosed walkway connecting the Soderholm Family Aquatic Center to the team’s locker rooms and lounge in the adjacent LaBahn Arena.
