John Weitz

Head Coach

John Weitz came to Bard in July of 2017. His collegiate coaching experience began at Seton Hall University, where he was an assistant from 1992-95. He was an assistant coach at national powerhouse Johns Hopkins from 2001-2008, where he coached present day Johns Hopkins coach, Scott Armstrong to a D3 National record in the Mile. Those were some of the Blue Jays most successful seasons and included two 2nd place and two 3rd place finishes at the NCAA Championships. From Johns Hopkins, Weitz took over as head coach at Wabash College. He was there from 2008-2010, leading them to their best finish (3rd) in the NCAC, a national powerhouse conference that includes Kenyon and Denison. At the youth level, Weitz was a three-time National YMCA Coach of the Year nominee while running the program at the Somerset Hills YMCA in Basking Ridge, N.J. While there, he coached swimmers to four individual and two relay national championships. He was the director of Aquatics for three years at the prestigious Gilman School in Baltimore, Md. Before arriving at Bard, Weitz served five years as the head senior coach with the New Canaan, CT YMCA Caimans. In his other role as Aquatics Director, Weitz manages all programs associated with the Stevenson Athletic Center Natatorium, outside of the varsity programs. Return to Coaching Staff
Jenna Tocco

Jenna Tocco

Assistant Coach

Jenna Tocco came in Bard in the summer of 2016. A native of Kerhonkson, N.Y., Tocco became a year-round swimming competitor at age 8, through USA Swimming. She swam competitively until she was 18, then left for Div. I Stony Brook University. During her time at Stony Brook, funding issues with a necessary renovation of the natatorium made it impossible for her to compete in a college meet. She still attended every practice at 7 a.m. and prepared for Div. I competition. She graduated in 2016 with a degree in Environmental Design, Policy and Planning, with a minor in Sustainability Studies.
Robert Rogan

Robert Rogan

Assistant Coach

Raised in the Hudson Valley, Robert swam for John Jay High School where he achieved four school records and two pool records before continuing his swimming at SUNY Cortland. While at Cortland he received a B.S.E in Physical Education with a concentration in both Coaching and Aquatics. He went on to receive a Masters degree in Exercise Physiology from the University of Arizona. After a 25-year break from competition, Robert returned to competitive swimming. In 2013 he qualified and went to national level competition, where he won 2 bronze medals . Also in 2013, he held 3 times in the top 5 in the U.S. in his age group (100 yd IM, 200 yd IM, and 100 yd Freestyle). Currently Coach Rogan is a full time Board Certified Physician Assistant in Orthopaedic Surgery/Sports Medicine with Orthopedic Associates of Dutchess County. He is certified in both general medicine and surgery as well as receiving additional training and certification in sports concussion evaluation and treatment.
