Head Coach

Cathleen Pruden is entering her third season as the Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving coach during the 2023-24 season. In the 2022-23 winter season, Kathleen led Trinty Swimming and Diving to a Men's and Women's Southern Collegiate Athletics Conference (SCAC) championship. Trinity Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving swept all major awards. Michael Kohl and Neely Burns took home Men's and Women's SCAC Swimmer of the Year, while Konstantine Partalas and Alexis Radhakrishnan took home Men's and Women's SCAC Diver of the Year. For the second year in a row, Coach Pruden and her staff were awarded SCAC Staff of the year. During the 2021-22 winter season, Coach Pruden led both the Men’s and Women’s teams to an SCAC championship. Michael Kohl and Konstantine Partalas both won Men’s SCAC Swimmer and Diver of the Year and Katarina Partalas won Women’s SCAC Diver of the Year. Coach Pruden and her staff were also honored as the SCAC Men’s Staff of the Year. Fourteen Swimmers and Divers qualified to go to the NCAA III National Championships following their stellar performances during the season. Eleven Tigers earned All-American status following the NCAA III Championships. Following the end of the season, seven women and six men from the Trinity University Swimming and Diving team earned College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Scholar All-American accolades. Before coming over to Trinity, coach Pruden spent the last five seasons as an Assistant Coach at Bowdoin (ME) College and Amherst (MA) College, and she recently earned her Master of Science in Exercise and Sports Studies from Smith (MA) College. The graduate of Mount Holyoke (MA) College was an All-American swimmer on four different occasions who was also named the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference Swimmer of the Year twice. Pruden also earned Academic All-American honors from the College Sports Information Directors of America on three separate occasions. She was also a Top 30 honoree for the NCAA Woman of the Year award. In addition to her undergraduate degrees in Psychology and Education, Pruden also earned her Master of Science in Exercise and Sports Studies from Smith (MA) College.

Diving Coach

San Antonio native Tommy Law has joined the Trinity University Men's and Women's Swimming & Diving coaching staff and will serve as the program's Diving Coach beginning with the 2023-24 season. Coach Law joins the Tiger coaching staff after spending the last 13 seasons at NCAA I University of the Incarnate Word. He coached a pair of UIW divers to NCAA II Championships and he is a three-time Coastal Collegiate Swimming Association Coach of the Year. "I would like to thank everyone at UIW Swimming and Diving for a wonderful 13 years," began Coach Law. "I learned so much during that time and I will miss everyone dearly. Now I am honored and blessed to be a part of the Tiger Swimming and Diving family. Thank you (Director of Athletics) Bob King and Cathleen Pruden for this amazing opportunity. Trinity University is such an incredible institution and I look forward to this next adventure." Coach Law attended Marshall High School and the University of Texas-San Antonio, earning his undergraduate degree in interdisciplinary studies (specialization in kinesiology), and minoring in Russian. Before joining the UIW staff, he was the diving coach for the San Antonio Divers. He is also a diving coach for the Alamo Area Aquatics Diving Team and Northside Independent School District. Coach Law has earned district and regional coaching awards and has coached multiple Amateur Athletic Union National Champions. Also prior to joining Incarnate Word's coaching staff, Coach Law served as the Diving Chairman for the Texas Intercollegiate Swim Coaches Association and was on the National Interscholastic Swimming Coaches Association All-American selection committee. In addition to being a member of both NISCA and TISCA, Coach Law is also involved with San Antonio Sports, the Sea World "Viva" diving company, and the Community Olympic Development program. "I am thrilled to welcome Tommy to Trinity," said Coach Pruden. "I have seen first-hand his success as a coach and his devotion to his athletes. His experience at UIW has positioned him well to lead our divers to conference and national level success." Coach Law and his wife Elaine reside in San Antonio.

Assistant Coach

Former Tiger All-American Mabel Fowler will begin her first year as an assistant coach for the Trinity University men's and women's swimming & diving teams beginning in 2023-24. "I am thrilled to welcome Mabel back to Trinity," said Head Coach Cathleen Pruden, who also led the search. "She had a successful career as a swimmer here, and was incredibly impactful at Swarthmore College in her first year on the pool deck. Her experiences at Trinity will be a big boost to our recruiting. I am excited for her to get started!" Coach Fowler comes to Trinity after serving in a similar role at Swarthmore College, where she helped the men's and women's swimming & diving teams win back-to-back Centennial Conference Championships in 2022-23. Coach Fowler also saw Swarthmore qualify its largest team in school history for the NCAA III Championships, as well as establish 23 new school records during her season with the team. She has spent the last three summers as the head coach of the Alamo Heights Pool Sharks here in San Antonio. "I am incredibly grateful for the year I spent at Swarthmore College," said Coach Fowler. "I appreciate the mentors I gained there and the wonderful athletes I was able to work with. Thank you SwatSwim Family. I am excited to be back home as Trinity University is the perfect place for me as a young professional to translate my passion for education and athletics to others. Thank you, Bob King and Cathleen Pruden, for this opportunity. I am elated to be a part of and continue the established success of the institution and program that shaped me. Once a Tiger, always a Tiger." Coach Fowler earned All-American honors at Trinity in 2019 and 2020, qualifying for the NCAA III Championships three times in her career, and leading her teams to Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships every year that she competed. She was the SCAC Swimmer of the Meet in 2020 and 2021, as well as the SCAC Swimmer of the Year in 2020. Coach Fowler is also the league's most decorated swimmer, setting the conference's all-time record with 13 individual wins at the SCAC Championships during her career. She still holds six Trinity swimming records, including four individual events and two relays. The Trinity women's swimming & diving team won its 20th consecutive SCAC Championship last year, while the men's team secured its 11th conference title in the last 12 years. Coach Pruden is entering her third season in charge of the Tiger men's and women's programs and has sent a record number of participants to the NCAA III Championships in each of her first two years.

Assistant Coach

The Trinity University Swimming & Diving programs have added Assistant Coach Mark Lang to the coaching staff for the 2023-24 season. "I am delighted to have Mark Lang rounding out the swimming and diving staff," said Head Coach Cathleen Pruden. "Mark comes to us from the most storied program in Division III swimming. We will be lucky to pull from experiences: both as an NCAA qualifier as a swimmer and as a coach of NCAA Champions. He is excited to get started and I cannot wait for the team to benefit from this energy." Coach Lang comes to Trinity from Kenyon College (OH), where he spent time as both a swimmer and a coach. He earned a degree in both Neuroscience and Biology from Kenyon, and also competed on the swimming & diving team. Lang qualified for the NCAA III Championships each of his competing seasons at Kenyon and was an All-American in 2020. "I am extremely excited to join the Trinity Tigers family! It is clear that Cathleen and the athletic department have strong aspirations and are willing to put in the time and effort to make them a reality," said Coach Lang. "Above all else, I can tell that this is a program that truly cares about the well-being of their members, not just as students or athletes but as individuals in all aspects of their lives - something I support wholeheartedly. I cannot wait to see what we will accomplish this year!" Coach Lang spent the last two seasons as a volunteer assistant coach at Kenyon. He worked with 15 NCAA III Champions during his time at Kenyon, leading the men's and women's teams to top-five national finishes each of the past two seasons. That includes the women's team winning the 2022 NCAA III Championship, while the men finished as the runner-up last year. Coach Lang also helped bring North Coast Athletic Conference titles in 2022 (women) and 2023 (men) during his time. In addition to his coaching experience at Kenyon, Coach Lang spent two years as the head coach of the Manistee Swim Team and one season as the interim head coach at Manistee High School. He also served two seasons as an assistant coach at SERF Swim Club in Gambier, Ohio. At Manistee HS, he led his athletes in breaking seven school records, winning just the second conference title in program history, and sent the most athletes in school history to the state finals.
