Guy Gniotczynski

Head Coach

Coach Guy Gniotczynski, is an accomplished swim coach with over two decades of experience. As an esteemed alumnus of Carroll College, Class of 2003, where he earned a bachelor's degree in biology with a minor in biochemistry, Guy's passion for swimming and coaching has been deeply rooted in his alma mater. This strong connection to the university has fueled his commitment and happiness in his role at Carroll. In 2008, Guy accepted a position as a graduate assistant at Carthage College in Wisconsin, where he played a role in the success of the swimming program. While at Carthage, the men's team clinched two consecutive conference titles and celebrated its first NCAA D III national champion in school history. Building upon his impressive coaching experience, Guy embarked on various coaching positions that shaped the careers of many swimmers, from his early coaching years at the West Suburban YMCA, where he produced the team's first YMCA National Qualifier, to his time as the head coach at the Rapid City Racers, where he led the team to significant accomplishments and nurtured the growth of individual athletes. Guy firmly believes in prioritizing the holistic development of each individual. His philosophy revolves around treating athletes as people first, students second, and athletes third. By nurturing well-rounded individuals, he aims to inspire personal growth and excellence in and out of the pool. Since joining Carroll College in 2020, Guy has found great happiness and fulfillment in his coaching role. His strong connection to the university has deepened his commitment to the team and the program's success. Under his guidance, both the men's and women's teams have seen improvements, including increased team size and improved rankings within the CCIW. Coach Guy holds multiple certifications that underline his commitment to excellence in coaching. He is an ASCA Level 5 Swim Coach and holds additional ASCA certifications, including Level 3 Disability Swim Coach and Level 2 Open Water Swim Coach. He is also a Certified Stroke Technician. Furthermore, Guy holds certifications from respected organizations such as the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM), where he is a Certified Personal Trainer (CPT), Performance Enhancement Specialist (PES), Fitness Nutrition Specialist (FNS), and Corrective Exercise Specialist (CES). He is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) from the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). Additionally, Guy is a Surge Strength Dryland Certified (SSDC) coach from Ritter Sports Performance and has achieved nutrition certifications from Renaissance Periodization (Level 1) and Precision Nutrition (Level 1). He has completed the Road Race Club of America Level 1 (RRCA) certification. He holds the Functional Movement Screen Level 1 (FMS Level 1), Functional Movement Screen Level 2 (FMS Level 2), and Fundamental Capacity Screen (FCS) certifications. Outside of coaching, Guy is committed to his family. He finds great joy and support from his wife Anne and their daughters Evelyn and Oliwja. Their love and encouragement fuel his dedication to coaching and remind him of the importance of a balanced and fulfilling life.
