Kai Robinson

Diving Coach

Hired in the summer of 2016, Kai Robinson '09 enters his fifth season as the diving coach for the Amherst College men's and women's swimming & diving programs in 2020-21. A 2009 graduate of Amherst with a B.A. in Economics, and one of the best divers to come out of the NESCAC, Robinson enjoyed a highly decorated two-year career with the Mammoths. After transferring from NCAA Division I Ivy League member Brown University where he was an Academic All-American Honorable mention, Robinson immediately made a splash at Amherst. The Vashon, Wash. native finished his illustrious career as a two-time NCAA Division III national champion; a four-time NCAA All-American; the NCAA Diver of the Year in 2008; a four-time NESCAC diving champion; a two-time NESCAC Diver of the Year; a two-time All-NESCAC honoree; and a two-time NESCAC All-Academic selection. He was also named an ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American, and a CSCAA Academic All-American. Robinson also finished as a quarterfinalist at the Kaiser Permanente Senior National Diving Championships (Olympic trial qualification meet) held at Stanford University in 2007. In addition to his accolades in the pool, Robinson has excelled out of the water as an award winning math teacher at the Northfield Mount Hermon School. At Northfield Mount Hermon, Robinson also served as the head girls varsity swimming coach from 2011-15, the head junior varsity softball coach from 2013-15, and junior varsity baseball coach.
