NC State Wins ACC Men's Championship Title

NC State captures the ACC Men's Championship title tonight.

400 Freestyle Relay
NC State cruised to victory, breaking yet another record, with a time of 2:48.14—besting the rest of the field by two seconds. 

Louisville and Notre Dame came in second and third, respectively, each swimming NCAA “A” cut times. 


200 Butterfly
Andreas Vazaios collected his second individual gold medal of the meet when he touched first in 1:41.42, which ties the existing meet record set in 2016. 

Louisville’s Zach  Harting came in second with 1:41.95 with Georgia Tech’s Benjamin Southern rounded out the podium with a third place time of 1:43.01 


200 Breaststroke
Virginia Tech’s Brandon Fiala repeated as ACC Champion, recording a new conference a meet record with his time of 1:52.39. This is his second individual gold of the meet. 

Earning silver was Georgia Tech’s Moises Loschi in 1:53.08 and third was Louisville’s Carlos Claverie in 1:53.19.


100 Freestyle
Another race, another record broken. NC State’s Ryan Held added one more gold medal to his ACC resume with his time of 41.61.  

“I wanted to break my meet record from last year so I knew I had to go out pretty fast,” Held said. 

It was an extremely close race as Virginia’s John Whiteside and Notre Dame’s Tabahn Afrik tied for second when they touched in 42.86.  


200 Backstroke
Louisville’s Grigory Tarasevich broke his own meet record as he raced to first place in a time of 1:39.05. 

“I’m going to do whatever I can to put myself out there and get the best times I can,” Tarasevich said. 

NC State’s Hennessey Stuart earned the silver with an NCAA “A” cut time of 1:39.47. In third was Wolfpack’s own Justin Ress with a time of 1:40.42.  


1650 Freestyle
Louisville’s Marcelo Acosta found himself on top of the podium in record time of 14:33.68. The sophomore bested reigning two-time ACC champion Anton Ipsen of NC State, who finished in second in 14:35.89.
