CollegeSwimming.com announced its 2016-17 Division I Pre-Season All-America selections. A total of 123 swimmers from thirty institutions were selected for the honor.The Stanford University women and University of Texas men led the selectiins with seven and eight swimmers respectively. Among those selected on the women's side were Olympic Gold Medalists Katie Ledecky, Simone Manuel and Lia Neal of Stanford, California's Kathleen Baker, Virginia's Leah Smith, Olivia Smoliga of Georgia, Cierra Runge from Wisconsin and Indiana's Lilly King.
Highlighting the men's selections were John Conger, Townley Haas, and Joseph Schooling of the Longhorns, Ryan Murphy (California), Caeleb Dressel (Florida), Gunnar Bentz (Georgia), Blake Pieroni (Indiana), and Ryan Held (NC State),
Selections were based on the times of both returning and incoming swimmers (through September 1st) with input from coaches and sports information contacts.
