Virginia Tech holds leads in the men's and women's races at its own Virginie Tech Invite.

CHRISTIANSBURG, Va. -- The Virginia Tech swimming team held onto their leads on the men’s and women’s sides after day two of the H2Okies Fall Invitational at the Christiansburg Aquatic Center on Friday evening.
The men lead second-place Purdue, 922.5-454.5, and the women lead the second-place Boilermakers, 751-654.
Senior Brandon Fiala was part of two first place team while also swimming the fastest time in the A final of the 100 breast. Along with junior Klaudia Nazieblo first place performances in the 100 fly and 100 back, senior Jessica Hespeler took first in the 200 free and in the 800 free relay.
The H2Okie men’s divers dominated the three meter event where Mauro Castro-Silva scored a 366.40 to take first place in the finals. Jack Gigliotti, Ben Schiesl and Eduardo Castro-Silva rounded out the top four.
Tech will wrap up the H2Okie Fall Invitational tomorrow with the prelims starting at 10 a.m.
NOTABLE SWIMS
Coming into the day with no seed time in the 100 fly, Fiala registered a first place time of 48.56 in the prelims. Sophomore Norbert Szabo. turned in a season-best and B-cut time of 47.97 in the A final of the event, just tenths of a second off his personal best set at ACC Championships last season.
A strong performance came from freshman Eleanor Matheson in the 400 IM where she had the second-fastest time with a 4:22.02, her season-best for her in the event.
The men’s A unit in the 200 medley relay’s first place time of 1:28.02 was aided by a 19:51 split in the final leg from sophomore Ian Ho.
In the B final of the 100 fly, sophomore Danielle Griggs had the top time with a 55.59.
Sophomore Jake Lamparella set a personal best in the 100 back with a B-cut time of 48.30.
The H2Okies saw the first and second place finishers in the 400 IM in Robert Owen and Michael Craddock, respectively. Owen turned in a B-cut time of 3:48.30 while Craddock turned in a 3:54.80 to earn 17 points.
Sophomore Ashlynn Peters collected 17 points in the one meter dive with a score of 293.10.
