Iowa Proceeds with Scoreboard Install

Daktronics, Inc. announced today that it will design and manufacture an integrated aquatics timing and video display system at the University of Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa, with installation scheduled for completion in early spring 2010.

The Hawkeyes’ new system will include two Daktronics light emitting diode (LED) video displays using the latest Daktronics industry-leading technology. One display, a PS-16 model, will measure approximately 8 feet high and 24 feet wide. The other display, a PS-10 LED display with even greater resolution, will measure over 6 feet high and 12 feet wide. Both video displays will show event updates, university announcements, and other information in the Campus Recreation and Wellness Center, benefitting the entire student body.

“UI student-athletes will now have an unbelievable training and competitive experience with the Daktronics integrated system,” said Jane C. Meyer, Senior Associate Director of Athletics at the University of Iowa. “Daktronics provided the answers to critical aspects the UI needed in order to host the multiple events and activities that will be taking place in the Campus Recreation and Wellness Center.”

Daktronics is also sending an array of aquatics timing equipment to Iowa City. These components of the system include the tried and tested OmniSport® 2000 timer, OmniSport® Pro Software, HS-200 start system, and handheld judges’ consoles. The Hawkeyes will soon fly into the water off Daktronics relay take-off platforms (RTOP), and they will compete with the assistance of Daktronics T-6096 touchpads and lane speakers on either side of the main pool.

“Working with such a respectable partner in the Midwest has been a great experience once again,” said Joey Hulsebus, Daktronics Sales. “The Hawkeye’s new equipment will consist of a completely integrated system that will make the university’s aquatics facility one of the most advanced and professional in the country, and we couldn’t be happier to be providing it.”

The University’s new Daktronics LED video displays will use the latest in red, green and blue (RGB) LED technology to present live and recorded video images, colorful animation and vivid graphics with incredible brightness and wide-angle visibility. Daktronics LED video display technology offers a long lifetime with minimal maintenance and low power consumption, providing value and excitement for years to come.
